Homemade candy makes a yummy gift for friends and family or a sweet treat for that holiday party. If you’re on a gluten-free diet, you have plenty of candy options, unlike cookies that usually require GF flour.
Lots of candy recipes are naturally gluten-free and most others can be made GF with a few tweaks.
At our house, homemade Christmas candy always includes peanut brittle, the light, airy Engelland family recipe. Even before Thanksgiving this year, my husband’s coworkers asked him when he would be bringing them some peanut brittle. All our extended family members expect a tin under the tree.
My crazy-for-chocolate daughter often whips up a batch of fudge most years. She usually uses the one on the back of the Marshmallow Cream jar, but I’m including one here that’s easy with lots of optional add-ins.
Both peanut brittle and fudge are usually GF to begin with. We made those before our family’s gluten-free journey began in 2013, with my youngest daughter’s celiac diagnosis.
Now I’m always on the hunt for more recipes with all the taste but none of the gluten.
I asked some fellow bloggers to send me their best GF candy recipes, and boy, did they come through to help me make this delicious collection. Several of them are super simple. Let’s make some candy!
Candy with four ingredients or less
Chocolate-covered pretzels call for GF pretzels and chocolate chips. Add some sprinkles if you’re feeling fancy. So easy from Strength and Sunshine.
I love chocolate and mint together, which is why I had to include peppermint bark. This easy vegan recipe from Delightful Adventures calls for just three ingredients.
Simple chocolate truffles from Little House Living use just two or three ingredients, depending on how fancy you make them.
Chocolate cranberry clusters from the Every Day Maven put your slow cooker to good use! I think this easy recipe would work with other dried fruit as well.
Gluten-free Christmas crack from This Vivacious Life uses Glutino crackers and just three other ingredients.
This 4-Ingredient chocolate fudge recipe from The Delicious Spoon offers many variations, if you want to up your candy-making game.
More delicious candy for gifting or celebrating
I love, love, LOVE toffee, so I’m eager to try Buttercrunch toffee from Hunger Thirst Play.
Chocolate peanut butter balls from Joy Food Sunshine use gluten-free graham crackers.
Gingerbread caramels from Good Life Eats combine two yummy holiday favorites into one homemade treat.
Christmas puppy chow from Aileen Cooks is a Christmasy (totally a word, spell check) twist on a favorite snack. I love that she uses mint and peanut butter M&Ms.
Give me all the truffles. I want to try them ALL, especially these Easy salted butterscotch truffles from Faithfully Gluten-Free. Be sure the butterscotch chips you buy are GF because some are not.
These Blueberry cookie dough truffles from Foodal use dried blueberries, white chocolate and almond flour. A treat that is cookie dough AND truffles? Yes, please!
I leave you with the Best Ever Peanut brittle recipe from the Engelland family archives.
